I RELATE IN PEACE
2025 | 25cm x 17cm | Pen & Ink on Archival Paper

To relate in peace is to become a bridge, not a barrier. It is to move through the world with a heart that listens, a tongue that does not wound, and a presence that disarms conflict. In a time where argument is currency and chaos is normalized, peace becomes a sacred rebellion, and a return to Ma’at.
This virtue reminds us of the ancient art of relational intelligence, the ability to connect with others without losing ourselves, to collaborate without competition, to walk beside another in mutual respect. It calls us to tend to our emotional landscape so we do not spill our inner wars into shared spaces.
Peaceful relating isn’t passive. It is a conscious choice, a commitment to harmony over ego, compassion over control. To relate in peace is to build trust like a woven net, one that can hold the weight of truth, difference, and unity.
When imbalanced, we become antagonistic and easily triggered in relationships. Miscommunication, control, avoidance, and unresolved conflict create distance. Without inner calm, our interactions become filled with tension, blame, or defensiveness, fracturing community and creating distrust in both personal and collective relationships.
The imagery shows two fishermen on a boat, quietly working together as they drift along a calm river under the golden light of sunset. The river does not rush, and the sun does not demand; yet together, they create a moment of harmony. In the same way, the fishermen mirror this gentle cooperation, their peaceful interaction reflects the harmony that can exist when people share space and purpose with gentle understanding.
