I AM tRUSTful in my relationships

2025 | 25cm x 17cm | Pen & Ink on Archival Paper

This virtue speaks to the sacred act of vulnerability; of opening one’s heart to connection and leaning into the soul-knowing that we are meant to be held and supported by others. Trust is a spiritual thread that weaves together the fabric of community, intimacy, and healing. In honoring this Ma’at principle, we remember that relationships; whether romantic, communal, or ancestral; are sacred grounds for growth, reciprocity, and transformation.

The legacy of colonialism, slavery, and systemic oppression has deeply fractured our capacity for trust, often replacing it with fear, hyper-independence, and isolation. To trust again is a radical act of ancestral repair. This virtue challenges us to reflect on our energetic exchanges: Are we allowing ourselves to receive as much as we give? Are we safe enough to be seen? Trust is the balance that keeps relationships from tipping into control or disconnection; it asks us to return to our original state of interdependence.

The artwork portrays two friends resting their hands on one another’s shoulders, embodying mutual care and emotional support. Between them, radiant golden orbs rise and expand, symbolizing the energetic growth that blossoms when trust is present. It is a visual prayer for relationships grounded in truth, balance, and soul-deep connection.
